Australia’s Magnetic Island Ferries has rolled out FerryHawk’s cloud-based booking platform, enabling customers to make and manage their bookings online for the first time.
The FerryHawk platform is purpose-built for ro-pax ferry operators to provide an online portal for passengers and vehicles. It will replace paper commuter cards on its hourly sailings between Townsville in Queensland and Magnetic Island, with a digital pass, which is accessible online. Previously, commuter passes were handled manually, so it is hoped the switch to digital passes will speed up passenger embarkation and disembarkation.
The FerryHawk platform, which was delivered in just three months, replaces Magnetic Island Ferries’ previous “disconnected” payment and customer relationship management systems. FerryHawk also supported training users and the transfer from the previous systems, on time, within budget, and with little to no disruption for customers.
“We are constantly improving our customer experience to give people more choice and flexibility,” said Angus Campbell, director of Riverside Marine, the parent company of Magnetic Island Ferries. “Our new booking system is just the first step. It provides the technological foundation we need to unlock future automation, keeping us at the forefront of innovation.”
