LDV Hospitality is to open its first Scarpetta restaurant at sea onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Encore, which will enter service in Miami, Florida this November.

Designed to offer ‘La Dolce Vita’ (the good life), the new Onda by Scarpetta will be an upscale Italian restaurant offering a selection of modern dishes, including seafood platters, freshly made pastas and desserts. The venue’s name is derived from ‘Onda’ which means ‘wave’ in Italian and the Italian expression ‘fare la Scarpetta’ which means to savour every bite of a meal.

Modelled on the seven land-based Scarpetta restaurants that are found in several US cities, Onda will boast a contemporary and minimalist Italian aesthetic created by natural materials like walnut and calacatta gold marble. The venue will also have expansive windows.

“We are excited to launch Onda, our first Scarpetta experience on the seas,” said John Meadow, founder and president of LDV Hospitality. “Partnering with Norwegian Cruise Line and connecting with guests across the world is an extraordinary opportunity for us.”

Onda by Scarpetta will be one of nine restaurants onboard Norwegian Encore, many of which are signature venues found on other Norwegian ships.

“We are passionate about delivering innovative and exceptional experiences to our guests, and this exciting collaboration with LDV Hospitality showcases that commitment beautifully,” said Andy Stuart, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Onda by Scarpetta will be the perfect complement to the variety of spectacular offerings available on our soon-to-launch Norwegian Encore.”
