Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Hanseatic Nature has made its maiden call to the port of Santander in Spain.

Hanseatic Nature arrived in Santander from Cherbourg, France, with 116 passengers onboard. To commemorate the ship’s first visit to the port, Miguel Ángel Revilla, president of Cantabria, presented a plaque to Captain Ulf Sodemann, as well as a collection of books about Santander and Cantabria for the library onboard.

Also taking part in the ceremony were Marta Barca, director general of tourism for Cantabria; Lorena Gutiérrez, councillor for social revitalisation on Santander City Council; Francisco Martín, president of the Santander Port Authority; and Santiago Díaz Fraile, director of the port authority.

“In such a complicated year due to the pandemic, it is magnificent news that we have new clients who have decided to call at our port,” said Martín.

Following the call in Santander, Hanseatic Nature departed for the Port of Leixoes in Portugal.
