The newly formed Global Maritime Procurement Council (GMPC) will hold its first in person and online meeting at the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) London event on 9 and 10 September 2025. The initial meeting aims to firm up the group’s agenda and agree key initial workstreams.

The GMPC was formed to bring together procurement heads of department from shipping and ship management companies to collaborate on a range of new initiatives. This includes bringing about development and change in the maritime supply chain management arena, as well as raising global standards, improving sustainability, implementing data driven procurement practices, and more.

The initial membership council is comprised of 10 global ship owners and managers from Axia Maritime, BW LPG, d’Amico Shipping, Fleet Management, Scorpio Ship Management, Synergy Marine Group and Wilhelmsen Ship Management, all of which collectively represent over 3,000 ships.

“We are a group of like-minded procurement professionals that have joined to form a collaborative forum that will share ideas and work together to create innovation, harmonization, education and transformation in the global maritime sector,” said Paolo Magonio, head of group procurement and services at Scorpio Ship Management and acting chair of the GMPC. “Our aim will be to deliver genuine value to ship operating companies and the wider maritime supply chain ecosystem.”
