In a double first this year, OW Bunker released the first iPhone and iPod Touch app to be made available by a bunker supplier and the first for the marine fuel market. The free application is designed to help ships calculate fuel data and keep up with changing standards and characteristics in the marine fuel sector. The app currently contains ISO8217-2010 fuel standards data and a fuel calculator, with more features promised.
Available as a download from Apple’s App Store, the app is aimed at those involved in the procurement, delivery, handling or management of bunkers. It contains a fuel calculator that allows the user to calculate specific energy content, the calculated carbon aromatic index number, the viscosity index and the volume correction factor.
