Fincantieri held a keel laying ceremony for Seabourn Cruise Line’s Seabourn Ovation at its Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, Italy on 2 December.

Engineers laid the first piece of steel for Seabourn Ovation during a ceremony attended by Fincantieri’s general manager Alberto Maestrini, the ship’s captain Stig Betten, and Italian Minister of Defence Roberta Pinotti.

Set to join Seabourn’s fleet in spring 2018, the 40,350gt newbuild is a sister to the new Seabourn Encore, which was officially delivered on 30 November and will begin service in January 2017.

Like her sister, the 600-guest Seabourn Ovation will be configured with one additional deck, expanded public areas, and 300 suites with private verandas. All interiors will be created by renowned by hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany.
