Princess Cruises’ newest vessel, Discovery Princess, completed her sea trials on 22 December 2021. The trials tested steering, navigation equipment and propulsion systems and began when the vessel left Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

Discovery Princess has now returned to the shipyard for further exterior and interior finishing in preparation for her maiden Mexican Riviera roundtrip  cruise from the Port of Los Angeles in California on 27 March 2022.

The vessel is the sixth and final Royal-class newbuild and is similar in style to her sister ships Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess.

The ship will join the fleet offering Princess MedallionClass holidays which are powered by a coin- sized wearable device called a Medallion. This provides guests with access to contactless boarding, the ability to locate other passengers onboard the ship, and personalised services. MedallionNet will also be available onboard to provide better wi-fi for guests.

Discovery Princess also features Sky Suites that offer 270-degree views, spa facilities, various dining options and West End-style production shows, and can accommodate 3,660 guests.

Between 27 March and 24 April 2022, Discovery Princess will sail on a series of Mexican Riviera and California Coast voyages. Afterwards, she will head towards the Pacific coast to begin a season of seven-night Alaska cruises from Seattle.
