Celebrity Cruises takes pride in crafting unmatched onboard experiences that authentically pay tribute to the destinations our cruise ships are travelling to. By creating spaces inspired by these places we are able to transform our ships’ interiors to create unique ambiences and onboard experiences, while maintaining the exceptional amenities our guests have come to expect.
Our Edge Series ships – the first of which debuted in 2018 – are widely regarded as one of the most innovative, premium cruise ships on earth. Our modern approach to design onboard the Edge Series ships, of which there are currently four in operation, creates a seamless, elevated guest experience. We brought together a team of talented architects to design the staterooms, which feature tactfully designed large living areas, spacious bathrooms and king-size beds to ensure guests truly feel like they are in an elevated extension of their homes.
The Edge Series ships’ three-storey Grand Plaza is the ‘heartbeat’ of the ship
Guests will also find our Infinite Veranda staterooms, a signature feature of the Edge Series ships – make for a special sailing experience by offering a seamless private space that extends from the entryway all the way to the sea. With the touch of a button, the entire living space becomes a veranda.
Throughout our ship’s public spaces, designers have created vibrant hubs for guests to gather and deepen their relationships with those they’re travelling with, as well as new people with like-minded interests. We offer ample spaces for gathering, such as in the luxurious venues at The Retreat or our vast, grand dining and entertainment venues. One notable space is our Grand Plaza, which is the ‘heartbeat’ of a Celebrity ship. It is an open, three-storey space inspired by Italy’s lively piazzas and brings together Celebrity’s speciality restaurants, bars, cafés, a casino and more.
One of the more laid-back locations is the Rooftop Garden, which is a guest favourite. This welcoming and multifunctional space comprises a restaurant, a bar, two float pools cantilevered over the open ocean, and an alfresco movie theatre. It’s a chic and relaxing spot to kick back in and watch the latest sports game in the afternoon or catch a film under the stars while enjoying themed cocktails and snacks.
Celebrity Cruises’ Edge Series ships include the Magic Carpet, the world’s first above-the-sea cantilevered, floating platform
The highlight of the ships’ outward-facing design is the Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform that soars 13 storeys above the sea and moves between decks. About the size of a tennis court, this incredible engineering feat gives the Edge Series ships a distinctive profile, which is recognisable from miles away. It offers guests comfortable seating and a full bar where they can sip craft cocktails while soaking in breathtaking views of the destinations on their itinerary, which may include the Norwegian Fjords, Alaska’s glaciers, Italian cliffs, crystal blue Caribbean waters, or one of the hundreds of other destinations across the globe.
Eden is another popular space onboard our Edge Series ships. The multilevel architectural masterpiece offers a transformative atmosphere that changes throughout the day. With Eden Café, Eden restaurant, and Eden Bar guests have three levels of cosy nooks, lounge seating and lively immersive entertainment to enjoy day or night. Guests can soak in sweeping views with floor-to-ceiling glass spanning three levels across the back of the ship.
We’re excited for our fifth Edge Series ship, Celebrity Xcel, to set sail in November 2025. One of the new spaces onboard this ship that I’m most looking forward to is The Bazaar. The multilevel, multisensory space will be unlike anything else at sea and will be an epicentre of action onboard. It will introduce authentic experiences designed to enable guests to enjoy destinations in an unconventional way. The Bazaar invites guests to get swept away in the sights, sounds, flavours and traditions of the places they visit, as well as the festivals made famous by those destinations. No two days at The Bazaar will be the same.
When it comes to the design of our ships, we’re always evolving and we value guest feedback, which is why we are inviting them to make direct interior design decisions for Celebrity Xcel. This will include choosing specific themes, textiles and curating service offerings, as part of Celebrity’s Dream Makers programme.
