The new Carnival Cruise Lines flagship, Carnival Breeze, set off on its maiden voyage from Venice on 2 June.

The 130,000-ton, 3,690-passenger vessel with 1,386 staff and crew is built according to Carnival’s ‘Fun Ship’ design and is the largest in Carnival’s European fleet.

The ship will initially be based in the Mediterranean with cruises from Barcelona throughout the summer season until 25 October. The itinerary includes visits to Dubrovnik, Rome and Monte Carlo.

Carnival president and CEO Gerry Cahill said: “Carnival Breeze represents the continued evolution of our product, offering a huge array of branded experiences for our guests and inviting public spaces each with its own personality and character, all enhanced by the spirited fun that makes a Carnival cruise so memorable.”

Carnival Breeze is the line’s first ship to feature the Thrill Theatre, an immersive multi-dimensional special effects movie experience. Other leisure facilities include the WaterWorks, which offers water slides and a 300-gallon drenching bucket, and the SportSquare, a recreation area with a suspended ropes course, a miniature golf course and an outdoor fitness area with a full running track.

As the first ship in the fleet to feature all of the entertainment elements of the line’s ‘Fun Ship 2.0' initiative, Carnival Breeze provides guests with a range of larger than life adaptations of board games from the Hasbro brand, as well as Playlist Productions, which combine live performances with high-tech LED staging and special effects.

Following the summer season in the Mediterranean, the ship will relocate to Miami for year-round six-and eight-day Caribbean cruises from 24 November, becoming the company’s largest South Florida-based vessel.
