UK-based luxury cruise line Cunard is to work with multiple world-class designers on its fourth, currently unnamed ship. Simon Rawlings from David Collins Studio, Terry McGillicuddy from Richmond International and Sybille de Margerie of Sybille de Margerie Paris will all contribute to the vessel’s interiors.
These interior designers have begun working with the ship’s renowned creative director, Adam D Tihany of Tihany Design. Cunard’s fourth yet-to-be-named ship will enter service in 2022 and construction will take place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
“The calibre of talent we have brought together for this project will bring to life our vision of creating a truly world-class ship,” said Simon Palethorpe, president of Cunard. “Working alongside the legendary Adam D Tihany, the team is working hard to ensure that every aspect of our new ship is exciting and forward-looking, yet unmistakably Cunard.”
Luxury interior design firm David Collins Studio and French interior studio Sybille de Margerie Paris will both undertake their first marine projects on the Cunard ship. David Collins will be responsible for the ship’s atrium, the Grand Lobby, the Queens Grill Suites and the main dining room. Sybille will work on the ship’s retail spaces, spa and the Queens Room, which will host events.
Hospitality designers Richmond International, which counts The Langham London and the Four Seasons Budapest as its clients, will be responsible for the theatre, new entertainment spaces and the outside deck.
“We have assembled a dynamic, passionate team of talented creatives whose unique design sensibilities and innate understanding of the Cunard brand will move the dial forward while recapturing the beloved spirit of Cunard travel in this next generation cruise liner,” said Tihany.
