Cunard is to roll out SpaceX’s Starlink wi-fi service to its three existing ships by the end of 2023 and its upcoming vessel, Queen Anne, when it starts sailing in May 2024.

Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite technology will deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity to guests and crew, allowing them to share photos and videos, stream films and access other content while onboard the ships.

“Sharing unforgettable moments with friends and family back at home is an important part of any holiday,” said Paul Ludlow, Carnival UK president. “Whether it’s uploading a picture of a sunset as you sail away from a newly discovered destination or catching up with the news, live events, or content from home, Starlink will make it even easier for our guests and colleagues to stay connected.”

Cunard began the Starlink implementation in June 2023 and the service is expected to be available in both public spaces and staterooms on Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary by the end of 2023. Queen Anne will debut with the service in May 2024.

“High-speed internet is critical to our modern lifestyle both at home and when travelling,” said Jonathan Hofeller, vice president of commercial sales at Starlink. “We’re excited that Cunard guests and crew will benefit from an improved wi-fi service onboard wherever they are in the world.”
