Crystal Cruises is to implement new Crystal Clean+ health protocols onboard its ocean ships Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony once they return to sailing.

The new measures include reducing passenger capacity, new testing equipment, and enhanced cleaning protocols. Health monitoring for guests and crew will be introduced, as well as social distancing guidelines and new embarkation procedures. The cruise line is also working with its shoreside partners to extend the protocols to onshore excursions, including the disinfection of tour coaches and tenders, the reduction of group sizes and monitoring of port regulations and schedules.

“When travellers choose to sail with us, they are entrusting Crystal to keep their well-being as our top priority and we take this trust and responsibility very seriously,” said Tom Wolber, Crystal Cruises’ president and CEO. “The Crystal Clean+ programme is an enhancement of the rigorous systems to which our teams have always adhered and offer our guests peace of mind and the assurance that Crystal is committed to ensure a healthy and safe experience aboard our ships.”

The cruise line has committed to comply with the recommendations of the US Centres for Disease Control, Cruise Lines International Association and global health measures, and will update its measures according to the latest advice. Further protocols are also in development for Crystal Cruises river, yacht, and expedition vessels.
