Cruise Ship Interiors Expo (CSIE) Europe has released details of the agenda for the conference, which will take place at the Fira Barcelona in Spain on 4-5 December 2019. Over the two days, 30 cruise designers will share their ideas and expertise in a series of interactive sessions.

The conference will begin with a ‘Leaders Debate’ chaired by Greg Walton, founding partner of Studio DADO. Walton will be joined by Alison Clixby, director of hotel design and projects at Carnival UK, and Trevor Young, vice president of new building at MSC Cruises.

“From our own experience at Studio DADO we have seen tremendous hunger for innovative cruise design concepts over recent years,” says Walton. “CSIE is perfectly timed to reflect on what we have all learned and look ahead to where this incredibly exciting cruise shipping journey will take us in future. I am looking forward to being part of this ground-breaking event and to sharing ideas with industry peers.”

The first day will also include contributions on design imperatives, followed by a session that will focus on innovation in the materials used within cruise ship interiors, led by Jacco van Overbeek, maritime division director at synthetic flooring specialist Bolidt.

Day two will feature a discussion about river cruising and cruise ship refits and a session looking at the specialised design needs of expedition cruise ships. Speakers will include Stefanie Jentz, senior project manager for newbuild and in-house design at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Elenora Brugnolotto, design manager at Crystal Cruises, and others.

The conference will end with a panel session featuring leaders of the cruise ship interiors sector offering their visions for its future. Participants will include Anne Mari Gullikstad, CEO of YSA Design; Marco de Jorio, co-founder of De Jorio Design International; and Duo Yang, German Chancellor Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Kuhn Logistics University.

CSIE Europe follows the successful inaugural CSIE conference, which took place in Miami Beach, Florida in June 2019. Over 3,500 industry professionals attended the event, which was the first conference and exhibition that focused exclusively on interior design in the cruise sector.

CSIE America will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Centre on 16-17 June 2020.
