Cruise and Ferry Port Network meets for first time in Belgium

The Cruise and Ferry Port Network (CFPN) met for the first time in Brussels, Belgium on 29 January 2015.

Formed as part of the European Sea Port Organisation (ESPO) on 4 November 2014, the CFRN is led by president Stavros Hatzakos, who is also the general manager of Piraeus Port Authority and honorary president of MedCruise. The network brings together the association of European seaport authorities, Cruise Baltic, Cruise Europe, Cruise Norwa, MedCruise and Cruise Britain.

During the meeting, participants discussed the main goals and activities of CFPN, as well as plans for developing the ESPO Code of Practice for cruise and ferry ports. They also explored EU initiatives on cruise and coastal tourism with a representative from the European Commission.

Attendees also discussed priorities to help launch the European Commission’s Pan-European dialogue between cruise operators, ports and coastal tourism stakeholders, which will begin on in Brussels on 5-6 March.
