Columbia Cruise Services (CCS) has taken over management of cruise ship SuperStar Libra,w which belongs to the Genting Group and formerly sailed with its Star Cruises brand.

The vessel will now serve as floating accommodation for workers and contractors at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany. The workers staying onboard the ship will be part of the construction of the Genting Group’s Global class ships, which will have capacity for up to 9,500 passengers and 2,500 crew.

CCS will be responsible for managing the hotel service, crewing and recruiting, as well as the technical management of the ship. Restaurants and bars will be available onboard, along with a lunch menu for non-resident workers and contractors.

“For CCS, the hotel ship is an exciting new challenge,” said Olad Groeger, managing director of CCS. “As a Germany-based company, we hope to be able to make a small contribution to the overall success of the Global Class project.”
