Chesapeake Shipbuilding is preparing to launch American Cruise Lines’ newest modern riverboat at its yard in Salisbury, Maryland.

The shipbuilding team used a heavy-lift ground-transfer system to move the forward hull section of the new American Melody from the hull fabrication building to the launch ways, where it will be joined to the ship’s aft section and launched into the Wicomico River.

American Melody is the fourth newbuild in American Cruise Lines’ modern riverboat series and is scheduled for delivery in 2021. The vessel will operate itineraries on the Mississippi River.
