Celebrity Cruises’ new Celebrity Ascent has successfully completed sea trials in the Bay of Biscay near the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, where it was constructed.

The ship completed several manoeuvrability tests with its two captains, brothers Demetrios and Tasos Kafetzis, at the helm. Almost 200 other crew members also boarded the ship to test multiple pieces of equipment.

Celebrity Ascent is the fourth vessel in the Edge series and will offer all the design features and onboard amenities offered onboard sister ships, Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Beyond. It will also have newly designed restaurants and culinary experiences, reimagined entertainment venues, and more.

The vessel will debut on 22 November 2023 with a series of preview voyages from Port Everglades in Florida. They will include a four-night Western Caribbean cruise, a three-night Bahamas itinerary and a seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailing. Following this, Celebrity Ascent will operate seven-night itineraries, rotating between Eastern and Western Caribbean destinations such as The Bahamas, Mexico, Grand Cayman, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Tortola and St. Kitts.

Celebrity Ascent will then reposition to the Mediterranean for summer 2024.
