Costa Cruises officially handed over Carnival Venezia to sister brand Carnival Cruise Line during a ceremony in Cadiz, Spain, on 22 March.

The ship will depart from Barcelona, Spain, on 29 May 2023 for a 15-day transatlantic voyage.

“We are so pleased to welcome Carnival Venezia to the fleet, which following a dry dock, will debut as our first ‘Fun Italian Style’ ship this May,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “A big thank you to everyone from our sister line Costa and all those within the Carnival family who will work to add the Carnival touches to this ship over the next two months.”

The ship features Italian-style architectural design inspired by Venice’s public square Piazza San Marco, the Italian Riviera and the Venetian canals.

There will also be new food options including Italian street food and Mexican fusion restaurants, as well as new entertainment spaces including youth programmes for children.

The ship is set to being year-round cruises from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York, USA, in June. It will offer 22 unique itineraries featuring visits to 25 ports across 14 countries.
