Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Panorama has been officially named by godmother Vanna White at a ceremony in Long Beach, California.

In a reference to her role as host of the American television show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, White turned a series of letters spelling out the name of the ship. This triggered the release of the traditional bottle of champagne, which smashed against the ship’s hull.

“I’m incredibly flattered and honoured to be the godmother of this ship,” said White. “Naming Carnival Panorama was truly a special moment, and one I will never forget. I look forward to sailing on her in the future.”

The celebrations also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Carnival Kitchen, a culinary centre that will offer over 15 different interactive cooking, baking and decorating demonstrations.

“One of the things we are most proud of is the delicious food we offer across our fleet,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “To celebrate Carnival Panorama’s inauguration with our very own ‘Feast of Fun’ featuring our amazing culinary team both onboard and through our partnerships really added to the occasion.”

Duffy also celebrated the opening of Sky Zone trampoline park, the first trampoline park at sea. She and Sky Zone CEO Jeff Platt cut the ribbon before the first visitors entered the 3,000-square-foot facility.
