Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Luminosa has sailed for the first time with its new livery and funnel, as it departed from its dry dock in Palermo, Italy.

The new livery design, which features Carnival’s traditional red, white and blue colours, was introduced on Mardi Gras in 2021 and has since been added to over half of the ships in the cruise line’s fleet. The ship also now features a vintage funnel design that recalls the funnels on Carnival’s original ships, and which has also been painted with Carnival’s colours.

The ship will now sail to Dubai, where its crew will come onboard, before heading to its final destination of Brisbane, Australia.

“We’ve been anticipating the day where we could see Carnival Luminosa sail the open seas with our new hull design and updated funnel, and it’s even more special than we imagined,” said the ship’s captain, Adriano Binacchi. “Now, she’s on her way to what truly makes a Carnival cruise vacation special – getting our crew onboard! With Luminosa’s uniqueness and our team members who make everyone feel at home, this ship is truly going to deliver a new level of fun that our guests have not experienced before.”

Carnival Luminosa will sail a range of itineraries from Brisbane between 6 November 2022 and 13 April 2023, before repositioning to Seattle, USA, in May to sail voyages to Alaska.
