Carnival Corporation has joined the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network (OPLN), a global community of retailers, brands, non-governmental organisations and alliances committed to addressing the impacts of plastic waste through collaboration.

The cruise company is a charter member of OLPN, which officially launched its online community and leadership network last week with 50 member organisations, including the Coca-Cola Company, WWF and Hasbro. The platform contains industry news, tools and research to advance solutions projects and ideas from experts and advocates to help reduce plastic waste.

“Our most important priorities are to operate safely, protect the environment and to be compliant everywhere we operate in the world,” said Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corporation. “Becoming a charter member of the Ocean Plastics Leadership Network is another important step in the many environmental compliance efforts that are under way across the company.”

OLPN has been organised by SoulBuffalo, a company which produces summits and expeditions for organisations to develop solutions for environmental challenges. The network build upon the company’s first Ocean Plastics Leadership Summit, held in May 2019.

“The Ocean Plastics Leadership Network will provide an amazing platform for knowledge-sharing, creating amazing first-hand experiences and working together to achieve real change,” said Dave Ford, CEO of SoulBuffalo and founder of OPLN. “Companies like Carnival Corporation coming onboard will be such an integral step to having this organisation be relevant and effective.”
