Carnival Corporation and Wärtsilä have signed an eight-year lifecycle agreement which includes providing maintenance for four LNG-powered ships in the Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line fleets.
The agreement centres around maintaining fleet reliability, increasing asset availability and optimising total cost of ownership across four ships, as well as two newbuilds currently under construction.
Wärtsilä will provide spare parts supply and logistics, major engine overhauls, remote monitoring and condition-based maintenance, technical audits, advisory services, crew training and performance management. Carnival Corporation hope this will reduce unscheduled maintenance costs and unplanned stops.

The agreement reflects the industry’s growing need for data-driven and performance-based service models to support operational excellence and optimise vessel performance.
