Blom Maritime mapped out Pacific Encounter in a point cloud for the installation of the waterslide

Engineering company Blom Maritime has supported partners Bluestone Group and Josef Wiegand in the installation of a new waterslide onboard Carnival Australia’s Pacific Encounter.

The company delivered a point cloud, a set of data points representing the ship, to provide a full overview of the existing onboard situation. It also created a foundation production drawing for the pillars below the waterslide, and provided installation support during the ship’s dry dock in Singapore.

Blom’s Survey Engineer 3D scanned the relevant areas during sailing in Australia, with over 300 separate scans made during navigation without impacting ship operation. Its engineers evaluated the position of the waterslides and determine the final position and height of the foundation pillars.

The company’s team, including a naval architect and survey engineer, then provided all necessary measurements for Bluestone while the ship was in drydock. Necessary elements and cut lines were also staked out for Wiegand.

Following the completion of work, Pacific Encounter has now returned to Brisbane, Australia, to continue sailing a year-round cruise programme.
