Australian-based adventure travel operator Aurora Expeditions has become a member of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) to help it expand its presence in the UK and Ireland and across Europe.

Aurora Expeditions provides small-group expedition cruises to the polar regions and other remote destinations. The company will welcome its first purpose-built, ice-class expedition ship Greg Mortimer (named in honour of the company’s founder) in October 2019.

“Aurora Expeditions is absolutely delighted to be joining CLIA, this has come at a great time for Aurora, as we prepare for the launch our new ship the Greg Mortimer next year,” said Craig Upshall, Aurora Expeditions’ UK and Europe sales director. “CLIA brings expedition cruising to life through its incredible connections throughout the global cruise community, and Aurora looks forward to welcoming the visibility we hope to gain through this.”

Aurora Expeditions team will be able to work with CLIA’s travel agent partners to market its cruises to passengers in the UK, Ireland and wider European region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Aurora to CLIA,” said Andy Harmer, CLIA’s senior vice president of membership. “The expedition sector is one of the most dynamic elements of the global cruise industry and the addition of Aurora’s expertise in this arena is great news for CLIA travel agents.”
