Atlas Ocean Voyages has revealed Atlas Adventurer, its first Atlas-class luxury expedition sailing yacht, representing a new phase in the company’s fleet development.

Atlas Adventurer is being designed to combine expedition capability with sail-assisted propulsion. The vessel will feature three masts fitted with carbon-fibre sails, working in conjunction with dual-fuel Wärtsilä engines and an electric-hybrid propulsion system. According to the company, this configuration is intended to reduce fuel consumption by up to 40 percent when sailing conditions allow, while also supporting quieter operations at sea.

“Atlas Ocean Voyages has always been driven by innovation in how we explore the world,” said Mario Ferreira, chairman, founder and owner of Mystic Invest Holding, Atlas’ parent company. “With Atlas Adventurer, we are introducing a new generation of luxury expedition sailing yachts. This vessel serves as a bridge between the wind mastery of the 15th century and the solid sails and electric propulsion of the 21st century. The yacht is designed to comply with future zero- emission port regulations and can navigate silently, allowing access to some of the most exclusive and restricted small ports around the world. Atlas Adventurer represents the next evolution in responsible, highly technological, comfortable, and safe yacht design.

The yacht will have a design speed of 16 knots and a sailing speed of 14 knots. A 9-megawatt marine battery system will enable sail-assisted and low-noise operation, while zero-speed fin stabilisers and additional vertical fin stabilisers are designed to provide stability both underway and at anchor.

Accommodation will comprise 200 all-suite staterooms, with capacity for up to 400 guests. Selected suites are designed to accommodate additional guests or connect to create larger family or group configurations. Public spaces will include seven dining venues, a wellness spa and fitness centre, a swimming pool and whirlpools, and a marina platform with direct ocean access.

Expedition operations will be supported by a fleet of Zodiac boats and dedicated luxury motorboats for shore landings and coastal exploration.

Atlas Adventurer will also support an expansion of the brand’s expedition programme into new regions. The vessel’s inaugural deployments are expected to include itineraries in Asia and Africa, extending the company’s geographic footprint beyond its existing operating areas.

“This new Atlas-class sailing yacht represents the next step in our growth,” said James A. Rodriguez, president & CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages. “It allows us to expand our destination footprint into regions our guests have been asking us for, while further solidifying Atlas’ position within the luxury expedition cruise category. As our brand continues to evolve, this vessel is a powerful expression of where we are headed: thoughtful growth, intentional design, and deeper global exploration.”

Atlas Adventurer is scheduled to enter service in late 2028.
