Atlas Ocean Voyages and Poseidon Expeditions have joined the Expedition Cruise Network, bringing the total number of members to 20.

The ECN, which launched in April 2023, is a growing membership of global expedition cruise operators that work together to inform, educate and promote their products to the global travel-trade community.

Atlas Ocean Voyages is a US-based expedition cruise company operating ships that carry fewer than 200 guests. It offers expeditions through Antarctica, the Arctic, Norwegian Fjords, Iceland and Greenland, as well as expeditions focused on gastronomy in the Mediterranean, the British Isles, and Europe.

“We were impressed with the rapid growth of the Expedition Cruise Network and recognised its pivotal role in bridging the gap and showcasing the distinctive value of expedition cruises,” said James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages. “This network has effectively addressed the need for comprehensive insights into what sets expedition cruises apart from traditional cruise experiences. Joining this organisation aligns seamlessly with our commitment to the burgeoning expedition cruise sector. We are enthusiastic about becoming a part of this network, guided by the expertise of the talented team at ECN.”

Poseidon Expeditions is a UK-based polar cruise operator offering expeditions to Greenland, Svalbard, the British Isles, Iceland, and Antarctica. The operator advocates the small ship concept, with its vessel, Sea Spirit, accommodating approximately 100 passengers.

“As a well-established, albeit smaller, polar expedition ship operator, Poseidon needs to marshal its resources in ways that provides the trade with our scope on small ship cruising in polar regions,” said Angelica Vorea, CEO of Poseidon Expeditions. “The ECN platform provides valuable information and an educational forum that simply doesn’t exist elsewhere. This provides us with great visibility on par with others who have larger fleets, ships and budgets. On top of this, the team at ECN is great to work with!”

Akvile Marozaite, CEO of ECN echoed the excitement of the two new members adding: “We are delighted to have two such excellent small ship expedition cruise operators joining the Expedition Cruise Network, as their product is exactly what expedition cruising is about. They both offer small ship cruising to diverse, niche destinations and offer a unique and luxurious way of exploring the world.”
