American Cruise Lines’ (ACL) fleet is set to expand to 15 small ships in 2022, with all vessels to bear the ‘American’ moniker following a remodelling and rebranding project by the river cruise line.

The riverboats America, Queen of the Mississippi, and Queen of the West will become American Splendor, American Heritage and American West respectively. The company’s website, marketing materials, cruise schedules, and travel advisor portal are also being updated to reflect the name changes and redesign in effect for 2022.

Studio DADO, the Miami-based design firm commissioned to create the interiors for ACL’s newest modern riverboats, will also be completing the upcoming remodel of the existing paddlewheel fleet. The new project will begin in the winter and will be finished in time for ACL’s 2022 cruise season, which operates from March to December.

Each of American’s  paddlewheelers will be renovated with new colour palettes, textiles, linens, furniture, carpets and regionally inspired artwork. The design of American Splendor and American Heritage will continue to be influenced by the Mississippi River, highlighting its historical, cultural, musical, and literary inspirations, while American Pride and American West will continue to feature Western and Native American inspired themes.

“Both in designation and design, all four of our paddlewheelers will be remodelled to meet the sophisticated new bar we set for US river cruising with our groundbreaking modern riverboats,” said Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of ACL.
