American Cruise Lines christened American Patriot in Newport, Rhode Island on 4 July, celebrating the American holiday with the official naming of the first ship in its new Patriot Class.

The festivities included cruise guests, community members, officials from Sail Newport and executives and crewmembers from American Cruise Lines. Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, spoke at the event, along with the ship’s godmother, Susan Daly, president of Sail Newport. Attendees gathered on the ship’s top deck for the official blessing and ceremonial bottle smash, followed by a traditional New England lobster bake at Fort Adams State Park.

“We are so pleased to be back in Newport this summer, christening yet another new US ship and celebrating the 4th of July with our guests,” said Robertson. “We are especially honoured to be joined by American Patriot’s godmother, Susan Daly, president of Sail Newport, and so many of our Eagle Society members, who cruise with us again and again, whole-heartedly supporting our mission to offer the finest cruise explorations for discovering and re-discovering America.”

American Patriot accommodates up to 130 guests and features four decks. Onboard venues include a chart room, lounges, a main restaurant, café and fitness centre. Sister ship American Pioneer is set to launch later in 2025 in Florida, while American Maverick and American Ranger will follow in 2026.
