AmaWaterways’ AmaMora embarked on her maiden voyage on 3 June, making her the third in a trio of new river cruise ships to have joined the fleet this year – a record for the brand.

AmaMora departed the Port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands heading for Basel in Switzerland. The 156-guest ship will be officially christened and blessed by her godmother Libbie Rice, co-president of Ensemble Travel Group, during a ceremony in Lahnstein, Germany on the week commencing 15 July. Her launch follows on from AmaDouro, which was introduced on Portugal’s Douro Rover in April, and AmaMagna, which debuted on the Danube River this spring.

“We are always excited to introduce new ships to our innovative fleet, but this season has been especially rewarding and significant for us,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-founder of AmaWaterways. “We’re thrilled to introduce AmaMora to the Rhine River and look forward to continue exceeding our guests’ expectations with a luxurious onboard experience, enriching shore excursions, exquisite dining venues and of course, the AmaWaterways touch that turns an interesting voyage into an unforgettable personalised experience.”

Designed as a sister to AmaLea and AmaKristina, the new AmaMora has 78 staterooms, most with AmaWaterways’ signature twin balconies; a main restaurant; Chef’s Table Restaurant, a coffee station; a fitness centre; and a sun deck with a heated pool, swim-up bar, loungers and a walking track. Guests will also benefit from massage and hair salon services, complimentary entertainment-on-demand in cabins, free high-speed wi-fi, and a wellness programme featuring group fitness classes led by a Wellness Host.

Sailing between Amsterdam and Basel for the foreseeable future, AmaMora will offer the seven-night ‘Enchanting Rhine’ and ‘Captivating Rhine’ itineraries, as well as ‘Christmas Markets on the Rhine’ voyages between 25 November and 23 December. Returning guests will be offered the chance to join a special ‘Christmas Markets’ sailing that departs on 24 November as part of AmaWaterways’ first-ever Loyalty Appreciation Month.

“We are very honoured to have a river cruise company like AmaWaterways at the Port of Amsterdam,” said Monic van der Heijden, commercial manager of cruises at the port. “AmaWaterways is an example of an exceptional partner for the port due to important factors like their sustainable practices and disciplined captains.”
