Almaco is to supply complete Food Handling solutions and refrigeration machinery for the galleys and provision stores onboard Star Cruises’ two newbuilds.

Both newbuilds, which will be built by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft and debut in autumn 2016 and 2017, will feature Almaco’s catering equipment in their respective galleys, bars, buffets, pantries and provision stores.

In addition, the ships’ galleys will be fitted with the Almaco Galley Energy Management 2.0 system and the Refrigeration Equipment Monitoring system, which controls and monitors the refrigeration plants, provision stores and the galley refrigerators. Both systems are part of an overall Integrated Catering Management system, which also extracts data from ovens and dishwashers, to enable the line to significantly reduce power consumption in the food handling areas.

“The strength of Almaco’s long-term relationship with Meyer Werft and Star Cruises is reinforced by the order to deliver high-quality and energy-efficient food handling solutions for their newbuilds,” said Björn Stenwall, president of Almaco’s Marine division. “Almaco’s knowledge and expertise in delivering catering solutions for newbuilds together with our close cooperation with Meyer Werft supports the continuous leadership of Almaco’s Complete Food Handling Solutions in the newbuilding cruise market.”
