AIDA Cruises’ new flagship AIDAprima reached Singapore on 20 March after leaving the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan to head for her new Hamburg, Germany homeport.

While in Singapore, the ship was loaded with around 40 containers’ worth of equipment, which will be installed in the 2,200sqm AIDA Plaza shopping arcade and the onboard art gallery. She set sail again on 22 March bound for the port of Salalah in Oman, where she is expected to arrived on 29 March.

During the crossing to Hamburg, around 900 crew members will prepare the ship to welcome her first passengers, and test the lighting and sound in the Theatrium, Beach Club and Four Elements are going to be tested. The AIDA Show Ensemble will also rehearse the onboard productions.

After arriving in Hamburg, AIDAprima will offer a four-day roundtrip to Southampton/London and on 30 April, she will begin her regular seven-day roundtrips from the German city to Western European cities such as London, UK; Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

AIDAprima will be christened by German actress Emma Schweiger during the Hamburg Port Authority’s 827th anniversary celebrations on 7 May 2016.
