AIDA Cruises took delivery of its newest vessel, AIDAcosma, in Bremerhaven, Germany on 21 December 2021. The ship was built at Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and joins its sister ship AIDAnova in being powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

“Today marks an important milestone on our journey to emission-neutral cruising,” said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises. “With AIDAcosma and her sister ship AIDAnova, two of the most innovative cruise ships in the world belong to our fleet in terms of sustainable cruising as well as the very special guest experience and product diversity.”

The new ship features the Ocean Deck, which spans over four decks and provides panoramic views, a large infinity pool at the stern of the ship, bouldering walls, rope towers and a Fun Park. There are also 17 restaurants and 23 bars and cafes.

AIDAcosma will be officially named on 9 April 2022, in Hamburg, Germany, as part of her two-week christening voyage visiting Lisbon in Portugal, as well as Mallorca, Barcelona, Cadiz and Malaga in Spain. Former Olympic cyclist and 11 -time Union Cycliste Internationale World Champion, Kristina Vogel, will act as godmother for the ship. Afterwards, the vessel will provide one-week voyages from Palma and Barcelona between 23 April and 15 October 2022.
