Ship management providers OSM Maritime Group and Thome Group are merging to form OSM Thome, which will focus on providing better management services for 1,000 vessels.

Together, the two companies will be responsible for providing full technical management services onboard 450 ships and crew management services on 550 vessels. The ships include cruise ships as well as other non-passenger vessels.

As both firms are based in Norway, the OSM Thome headquarters will be located in Arendal, while technical management hubs will be maintained in Singapore and Europe.

“By joining our resources in OSM Thome, we will become an even better partner to our customers,” said Dinn Amund Norbye, group CEO of OSM Maritime Group. “With our emphasis on safe and efficient operations as well as innovation, our ambition is to make the combined company even more relevant and attractive to customers, employees, and seafarers.”

OSM Marine and Thome Group will operate separately until the merger has been approved during the first quarter of 2023.

“Together, the two companies have a total of 32,000 employees, whereof 2,000 onshore in 22 countries, representing a diversity of expertise and experience,” said Olav Nortun, group CEO of Thome Group. “It is the people that enable us to deliver top quality and sustainable solutions to our customers. We operate across all the world's oceans, and the efforts of our 30,000 seafarers are key for the position we have gained within international shipping.”
