Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC) newest ship, Seven Seas Explorer, is to offer four new theatre shows when she debuts this July.

To be staged in the Constellation Theatre on select evenings, the four shows are being developed by writers, directors and choreographers with extensive Broadway experience under the guidance of Julliard-trained musical director Jeremy Fenn-Smith.

Productions will be performed by a cast of 12 singers and dancers accompanied by a live seven-piece orchestra and will include ‘Peggy Lee’, a homage to the American jazz and popular music singer Peggy Lee. Other shows will include ‘Paradis’, a ‘burlesque blend’ of dance and songs directed by veteran Broadway and Off-Broadway choreographer Patricia Wilcox; Tony Award-winning show ‘A Day in Hollywood’, which features music from famous movies; and musical ‘Burn the Floor’, which will take the audience back to 9 February 1964 when Beatlemania and the British Invasion hit North America during the Sunday night Ed Sullivan Show.

“From the opulent suites and world-class spa, to the gourmet restaurants and elegant lounges, we are fully committed to making Seven Seas Explorer the most luxurious ship ever built,” said Jason Montague, president and COO at RSSC. “It is important that we provide our guests sailing on Seven Seas Explorer with the highest quality entertainment available, so that feeling of excellence transcends the entire shipboard experience.”

While Seven Seas Explorer will be the first ship to debut the shows, RSSC is investing to upgrade the level of entertainment across its entire fleet. In the coming months, each ship will add a wide-range of staged entertainment, from Broadway-style theatrical shows and musical medleys, to variety-style comedic productions.

“We have an all-star team developing these new shows for RSSC and our guests will notice a significant upgrade to our onboard entertainment across the fleet,” said Montague.

The 56,000gt Seven Seas Explorer will accommodate 750 guests and feature suites, staterooms, lounges, gourmet restaurants and more. The ship will embark on her maiden voyage is scheduled for 20 July 2016 and she will spend an inaugural season in Europe before heading to Miami for a series of Caribbean voyages.
