Scanship is to deliver its Total Clean Ship System for a Silversea newbuild, which will reportedly be constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

The company will provide onboard systems for advanced wastewater purification (AWP), vacuum food-waste processing, and garbage handling with incineration. The systems will be installed in the third quarter of 2015.

Although the newbuild order is yet to be confirmed by Silversea and Fincantieri, Scanship reported that the ship is scheduled to enter service in 2016.

“We are very pleased to be selected as a partner by Fincantieri for this prestigious project, increasing our market share within total clean ship systems,” said Henrik Badin, CEO of Scanship. “This confirms that our technology is requested by vessels that need to be in compliance with the highest environmental standards worldwide.”

Scanship has also secured orders to provide AWP and waste management systems for four Viking Cruises’ ocean cruise ships, which will be built at Fincantieri. The company will also deliver AWP and biomass processing equipment for Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis 4, currently under construction at STX France.
