Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas has returned to service after undergoing a 24-day drydock at the Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) in Freeport, the Bahamas.

During the drydock, GBS carried out a bow-to-stern revitalisation of the ship’s furnishings and added new dining and bar options, such as R Bar Lounge.

New dining venues include the modern Mexican speciality restaurant Sabor; a new Chops Grille with a fully revamped menu; a new Giovanni’s Table Italian restuarnt; and classic Johnny Rockets 1950s-style restaurant.

GBS also added 67 new staterooms to the ship, increasing her total occupancy capacity to 4,515. Accommodation options now include the new Panoramic Ocean View staterooms, which are located at the top and front of the ship, and feature floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows.

Based in Port Canaveral, US, Freedom of the Seas sails seven-night eastern and western Caribbean roundtrips. The eastern route includes port calls in St. Thomas, St. Maarten and CocoCay, while the western itinerary has Falmouth (Jamaica), Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Labadee.
