Princess Cruises is expanding its guest capacity in Vietnam by over 40% in 2018 to cope with increasing demand.
In 2017, Princess Cruises carried over 58,000 guests on 22 sailings to Vietnamese ports such as Phu My, Nha Trang, Da Nang and Cai Lan. In 2018, Princess Cruises’ Majestic Princess, Sapphire Princess, Diamond Princess, Golden Princess, Sun Princess and Coral Princess will be deployed on 31 voyages, taking over 80,000 guests to Vietnam.
“Vietnam has become an increasingly popular destination for our guests from USA, Australia, and Europe as well as Asian countries, and cruising is one of the best ways to explore this magnificent part of the world,” said Farriek Tawfik, director of Southeast Asia at Princess Cruises. “In response to this demand, we have significantly expanded our itineraries to offer passengers a choice of sailings and exciting itinerary options.”
According to Cruise Line International Association, cruise demand from Vietnam has increased by 126% between 2012 and 2016, the largest increase in any Asian country. Vietnamese cruise passenger numbers rose from just 158 in 2012 to over 4,100 in 2016. Cruising is also rapidly increasing in popularity among Vietnamese people.
