Norwegian Cruise Line is to extend its roster of weekly roundtrips from Miami, US to Cuba, until December 2017.

Norwegian Sky, which was originally scheduled to sail five cruises to Cuba in May, will now offer an additional 25 departures from the Florida port starting in June.

All the four-day cruises feature an overnight in Havana, the capital of Cuba, and a call at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian’s private Bahamian island.

“We are thrilled to be the first cruise line able to offer weekly sailings from Miami to Cuba until autumn 2017, all with overnights in the beautiful city of Havana,” said Andy Stuart, president and CEO at Norwegian. “We have seen great demand from our guests for sailings to Cuba and we look forward to providing more opportunities for them to experience this incredibly culture-rich destination on a weekly basis.”

Norwegian Sky will dock in the centre of Havana, enabling guests to visit Old Havana – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and enjoy local music, culture and people-to-people experiences with locals. Guests will also be able to choose from 15 half- and full-day cultural shore excursions.
