Norway’s cruise ports are expected to welcome an increased number of cruise visitors and ship calls in 2018, after welcoming almost three million day passengers in 2017, according to Cruise Norway.

The country, which has traditionally been primarily a summer destination, is fast becoming a popular all year-round destination for cruise lines because winter itineraries offer the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

To help boost Norway’s appeal as a year-round cruise destination, Cruise Norway will provide two familiarisation trips for cruise line and media representatives in 2018. This March, more than 20 of the organisation’s member ports and destination representatives will showcase their offerings to cruise lines at Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this March. In the last week of May, Cruise Norway will host a Norway Day event in Hamburg to provide a better service and establish a stronger presence for its business associates in Germany and the UK. The organisation will also head to Seatrade Med in Lisbon, Portugal this September.
