New SPBB for Leixões

ADELTE Ports & Maritime is to design, manufacture and install a Hydra-model seaport passenger boarding bridge (SPPB) at the port of Leixões in Portugal.

Contracted by the port authority – Administracao dos Portos do Douro e Leixoes (APDL) – ADELTE will install an SPBB consisting of two tunnels, each measuring 26 metres in length. The SPBB will feature an advanced docking cabin capable of serving cruise vessels of up to 300 m in length at dock level. It will also have a mobile access ramp that can be attached directly to the connecting module of the bridge.

Scheduled to be fitted at the port by the end of 2014, the custom-designed SPBB will include cutting-edge technology patented by ADELTE to ensure optimum operating efficiency, as well as the comfort and safety of passengers.

In addition to a new passenger bridge, APDL is also expanding Leixões’ cruise facilities with a new terminal, a 340 m dock and a marina.
