The new Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder welcomed its first cruise call when AIDA Cruises’ AIDAbella docked at the Kronprinzkai (Crown Prince Quay) on 23 May.

Designed to accommodate modern cruise ships with a draft of up to 13m, Hamburg’s third dedicated cruise terminal spans 9,000sqm and is comprised of two separate arrivals and departure buildings. It will be officially inaugurated on 9 June 2015.

AIDAbella and her 4,800 guests docked at 7am, before leaving the port at around 6pm. The ship called as part of her seven-day Western Europe cruise, which included calls at Le Havre, France; Southampton, UK; Zeebrügge, Belgium; and Amsterdam, Netherlands. In total AIDAbella will make a further 21 calls at the new Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder this year.

Next April, AIDAprima will sail a series of seven-day roundtrips from Cruise Center Steinwerder to destinations in Western Europe.
