Meyer Turku has contracted Finnish marine interior designer and supplier NIT to design and build five public areas onboard both TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff 8.

NIT will provide turnkey interior outfitting services and create bars, restaurants and the shore excursion area for the passengers, as well as stairways, a library and a lounge room for the crew onboard both newbuilds. NIT will also provide technical services, installing the HVAC, electrical, insulation and piping systems.

Led by project manager Torsten Viljamaa, NIT’s in-house designers, engineers and procurement staff will collaborate closely with the team at the Leo Steel workshop and the on-site installation crew at the Meyer Turku yard.

“We have been working with the Turku shipyard since it worked on the first Finnish-built vessel in the Mein Schiff series, Mein Schiff 3,” said Jari Suominen, CEO of NIT. “We are happy with this continuing relationship, which will produce economical and operational benefits for all, as we are learning together every day.”
