German shipyard Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven has signed a multi-million euro contact to renovate AIDA Cruises’ AIDAvita before she begins her new roster of 26 Northern European cruises on 5 April 2017.

Christened on 30 April 2002, AIDAvita will be docked at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven between 25 March and 4 April 2017 and undergo refit and maintenance works.

The team will re-carpet the public areas, convert the Waikiki Teens Lounge on Deck 10 into the Beach Lounge, add windbreakers and heaters in the stern Seaside Lounge, and refurbish the external areas of the Anytime Bar and Ocean Bar. Other works will include modernising the pool deck, reconfiguring the poolside grill’s seating area, expanding the photo shop and transforming gourmet restaurant Rossini into the new Selection Restaurant. In addition, 9,000 litres of paint will be used to re-cover AIDAvita’s exterior.

AIDAvita will re-enter service with a four-day cruise from Hamburg, Germany to the UK and Holland on 5 April. She will then sail her first 13-day ‘Nordic Islands and Norway’ trip on 9 April and then offer 14-day voyages to Great Britain and Ireland. In June and July, the vessel will offer 14-day journeys from Kiel, Germany to the North Cape and the Lofoten Islands in Norway, as well as cruises to the Nordic Islands and Iceland. The ship will also sail various short trips to Norway and Sweden.

From the end of October 2017, AIDAvita will depart Hamburg for the Azores and the Canary Islands.
