Chef, restaurateur and TV personality Guy Fieri has created a new smokehouse and barbecue venue onboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic.

Located on Carnival Magic’s Promenade deck, the new Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse is a casual open-air eatery that offers foods barbequed onboard over a traditional hickory and cherrywood smoker. The menu includes smokehouse favourites made using Guy’s signature recipes and spices, as well as Fieri’s modified versions of traditional side dishes. Diners will also be able to enjoy Fieri’s signature BBQ sauces and a range of beers and drinks in the venue, which is open from 12:00pm to 2:30 pm on sea days.

“Everyone knows that it takes the finest meats cooked ‘low and slow’ to create a truly righteous mouth-watering barbecue,” said Fieri. “My new ‘Pig & Anchor’ eatery on Carnival Magic is going to be off the hook! Be sure to grab lots of napkins – it’s going to get messy!”

Fieri, who is a member of the American Royal National Barbecue Hall of Fame, has already opened Guy’s Burger Joints on 11 Carnival ships. Guy’s Burger Joint will also be featured aboard the new Carnival Vista when it debuts in May.

“Guy has been a wonderful partner and we can’t wait for our guests to enjoy all the incredible offerings at his Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse which we’re sure will be a huge hit with Carnival Magic guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse was added during Carnival Magic’s extensive multimillion-dollar renovation, which took place between 21 February and 3 March 2016. Other newly added spaces include Guy’s Burger Joint, Mexican restaurant BlueIguana Cantina, Italian eatery Pizzeria del Capitano, the cocktail pharmacy-themed Alchemy Bar, and the Cherry on Top candy store. In addition, the vessel now features two poolside bars – the RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar.

Carnival Magic will sail seven-day cruises from Galveston, Texas until 10 April 2016 and then offer a three-day cruise to Nassau, Bahamas from 20-23 April, before repositioning to Port Canaveral, Florida to operate two different seven-day Caribbean cruises.

The vessel’s Western Caribbean itineraries will take guests to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Belize; and Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan. Meanwhile, passengers on the Eastern Caribbean voyages will call at St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; San Juan, Mexico; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands; and Nassau or Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic.
