Specialist vinyl flooring manufacturer Gerflor has upgraded the flooring in public areas onboard ANEK Line’s 2,500-passenger ferry El Venizelos, which operates in Greece.

The France-based company provided decorative vinyl flooring from its Streamo Karavel range, which was developed specifically to enhance ship interiors, while meeting the International Maritime Organization safety requirements. For example, the area around the reception desk now boasts both Streamo Karavel Silversands and Mystic River flooring with dark concrete and silver strips. Meanwhile, the restaurant floor has been covered with Karavel Silversands.

Not only does the flooring replicate natural wood and stone patterns, but the slip-resistant surface is also very durable, so it can withstand high volumes of passenger and crew traffic without being damaged. In addition, Gerflor’s Streamo flooring is easy to install, and simple to maintain and clean, which makes it hygienic.

“This was a particularly rewarding project for us – firstly because we have a strong and longstanding relationship with ANEK Lines and secondly, because the architect specified Streamo after carrying out his own due diligence,” said Karine Bouttier, product manager at Gerflor. “Once again, we can be proud of a project where we have delivered and installed a superior product, and every stakeholder is delighted with how the project turned out.”
