GE Marine is to provide Argentina-based ferry operator Buquebus with a customised, ten-year service agreement for the two GE LM2500 gas turbines onboard one of its fast ferries.

Valid for ten years, the agreement covers various scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services for the dual-fuel gas turbines that power Francisco, the world’s fastest commercial passenger ship.

These services will include onsite and field service support; select component repair and replacement; engineering, technical and troubleshooting support; and engine leasing. Any depot level work will be performed at Avio Aero’s facility in Brindisi, Italy.

“We worked closely with Buquebus to fashion a gas turbine maintenance agreement that would meet its specific needs and ensure reliable operation of this very popular fast ferry,” said Brien Bolsinger, GE Marine’s vice president of Marine Operations. “This tailored agreement ensures that this wave piercing catamaran continues to swiftly move thousands of passengers and cars on its River Plata crossing between Argentina and Uruguay.”
