Corvus Energy has signed a 10-year agreement to service and maintain the energy storage systems on the vessels in Scandline’s hybrid ferry fleet.
The traditional service agreement covers all of Corvus Energy’s lithium ion-based energy storage systems, which are used to provide battery power on ferries across Scandline’s fleet. In addition, Corvus Energy will provide its remote condition-based monitoring service, Watchman.
“We thank Scandlines for its continued confidence in our products and services as it executes its ambitious environmental strategy,” said Ronald Hansen, global head of service and commissioning at Corvus Energy. “Supported by our highly experienced technical experts, our strong presence in the region and working closely with Scandlines, our advanced services and maintenance solutions will help ensure the Scandlines hybrid ferries operate reliably for many years to come.”
Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Scandlines provides more than 90,000 departures on 12 ferries annually, sailing between Denmark, Germany and Sweden. It was the first ferry operator to build and operate large ro-pax hybrid ferries that combine traditional diesel power with advanced battery power. This February, two of its newest hybrid vessels, Copenhagen and Berlin, began a regular service on the Rostock-Gedser route between Germany and Denmark.
“Scandlines is very pleased to continue and expand our long partnership with Corvus Energy,” said Fini Alsted Hansen, technical superintendent of Scandlines. “Beginning with Corvus in 2012, the company’s industry leading energy storage technology has become the standard electric battery power solution for all of our hybrid vessels.”
