Condor Ferries’ new fast ferry, Condor Liberation, embarked on her first official sailing from Poole in the UK to the Channel Islands on 31 March.

Condor Liberation’s name, which was chosen by Clive and Julie Davies as part of a competition, recognises the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands. The £50 million ferry is the first of her kind in Northern Europe and has a trimaran (three hull) design to offer increased stability.

“Today marked a very important milestone in the history of Condor Ferries,” said Alicia Andrews, executive director of commercial at Condor Ferries. “Bringing Condor Liberation into service has been a great team effort, not only from Condor, but also from our many partners who have been involved throughout the fit-out process. Condor Liberation marks a new era of sea travel and we are immensely proud to have her in our fleet.”

Condor Liberation features an upgraded Horizon Lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows and the Ocean Club Lounge, which is located in a private lounge area with leather reclining seats and tables. The lounge will offer an at-seat steward service, an exclusive menu, complimentary drinks and snacks, and power supply points next to every seat. Guests will also be able to access free wifi for part of the journey.

Other new areas include a children’s play area, the Island Bar, which will offer a variety of hot and cold food and beverages, and a new duty-free shop called Adore. The shop will feature a wide range of wines, spirits, fashion accessories, watches, fragrances, cosmetics and gadgets.

Condor Liberation will offer daily sailings from her Poole homeport to the Channel Islands throughout the summer.
