Columbia Cruise Services (CCS) has assumed full technical management responsibilities for Thomson Cruises’ newest addition, TUI Discovery.

Formerly Royal Caribbean International’s Splendour of the Seas, the vessel is currently undergoing a six-week renovation and rebranding at Navantia Shiprepairs’ yard in Cadiz, Spain.

The 69,130gt ship, which can accommodate 1,830 guests at double occupancy in 915 cabins, will homeport in Palma, Spain this summer and sail four European itineraries. These will include ‘Highlights of the Mediterranean’, ‘Cosmopolitan Classics’, ‘Mediterranean Secrets’ and ‘Magic of Spain’. She will call at destinations such as Livorno in Italy; Villefranche in France; and Barcelona and Cadiz in Spain.

“We welcome the new vessel in the CCS fleet,” said Olaf Groeger, director of CCS. “Supporting Thomson with its newest and most modern addition is a challenging prospect that we are looking forward to managing with our experts in the background.”
