Carnival Cruise Line is to showcase the construction of its latest ‘Fun Ship’ Carnival Vista in a series of behind-the-scenes videos shot at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

Hosted by Peter Gonzalez, the first video highlights the processes involved in cutting and assembling the 150,000 tons of steel needed to build the 1,055-foot-long vessel, which is the largest in the Carnival fleet. Future videos will highlight the onboard and onshore preparations needed to build the line’s first onboard brewery and install the three-deck IMAX Theatre. Viewers will also be able to gain a below-deck look at the ship’s technical spaces.

Designed as the largest Carnival ship to date, the 133,500gt Carnival Vista will accommodate 3,936 guests and offer Fun Ship 2.0 dining venues and bars, and various industry firsts.

In addition, the ship will offer Carnival Multiplex, the first IMAX Theatre at sea, new dining venues, Carnival’s largest WaterWorks water park, SkyRide, the industry’s first pedal-powered open-air aerial attraction, and more.

Carnival Vista will sail the line’s first European itineraries for three years when she debuts on 1 May 2016. After her 13-day maiden cruise from Trieste, Italy, Vista will then offer a series of Mediterranean itineraries to destinations such as Italy, France, Spain, Croatia and Turkey. The ship will also make Carnival’s first visits to Crete and Corfu, Greece; Valletta, Malta; Palermo, Sicily; Cagliari, Sardinia; and Gibraltar.

On 21 October, Vista will embark on a 13-day transatlantic crossing to the US and arrive in New York to operate a series of voyages from the city, before sailing to her year-round PortMiami homeport in December.
